Life-Long Learner
When I shadowed a physical therapy clinic in high school I realized I wanted to start my own practice. In October of 2021 I started a mobile physical therapy clinic, Direct Access Therapy LLC. I quickly realized how expensive an Electronic Medical Records (Electronic Health Records) system can become. I hate subscriptions and that you never own the product even after years of paying. So I set out to reduce my monthly expenses and create something that I can own.
I quickly saw the potential with Google Workspace. The ability to connect your forms and sheets really appealed to me. I obsessively spent hours researching and learning all that I could about how to use Google Workspace. My first versions of my EMR were on Google Docs and it quickly became unorganized and my Drive was difficult to navigate. I came across great articles and videos explaining what Google Sheet functions were. I had never used Sheets or Excel before. I then made a new version of my EMR on Sheets.
I created my Facebook Group and YouTube channel to answer questions that other people have asked me about my EMR. Answering these questions have helped me to improve my templates and make them Medicare compliant for a PT Practice. I have spent the last year learning Google Script and writing code that has automated, organized, and reduced time spent documenting.
I am not just an entrepreneur creating a system to sell to others. I use this system daily and continue to improve it in ways that benefit the person writing the treatment notes. I am always thinking of ways to improve it.
I consider myself a life-long learning and I try to learn a new skill each year. When I am not working, I like to spend time outside, volunteering, and with my family.
